Susana Miranda is quoted by Advocatus magazine in an article entitled ‘The largest law firms receive an average of 23 trainees’. In this article, Advocatus reveals the practices adopted by law firms in Portugal in order to attract professionals who are starting their career. To this end, each firm outlines specific onboarding programmes, which are designed to facilitate the adaptation of newcomers and prepare them for the work environment.

In this context, Advocatus describes the onboarding process for trainees at VdA, an onboarding model ‘carefully’ prepared to ensure a ‘smooth’ and ‘effective’ transition to the Firm's environment. This process, explained Susana Miranda, begins with a bootcamp that combines team building activities with networking moments.

‘This bootcamp is followed by the trainee week, an intensive week of training, where trainees receive information about the various practice areas, industries and acquire knowledge about internal processes. At the end of this week, each trainee is integrated into their preferred area of practice, starting their professional career', explains Susana Miranda.

During this stage, trainees have the opportunity to interact directly with the founding partner, senior partner and managing partner, promoting an organisational culture and learning about VdA's history, values, purpose and identity.

‘VdA's role in preparing and training new generations of lawyers is a mission that we have always understood to be of the utmost importance, and one that is based on relevant aspects of our culture and values,’ concludes Susana Miranda.
