João Afonso Fialho signs the chapter on Angola in Lexology's publication Panoramic: Oil Regulation. The Panoramic guides offer a comparative analysis of the laws and regulations applicable in different jurisdictions.

In this edition, the VdA lawyer analyses the regulation of the oil sector in Angola, highlighting its role as one of the main oil producers in the world and the second largest in Africa. In addition, onshore and offshore regimes, regulatory powers over operators, licence duration, decommissioning and abandonment, regulation of oil transportation and cost recovery in the sector are addressed.

In an introductory note, João Afonso Fialho describes the challenges facing the sector, namely the decline in production, Angola's decision to leave the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the strategic plans and reforms implemented to attract new investments.
