Manuel Gouveia Pereira has joined Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA)’s Real Estate, Planning & Environment area of practice. Manuel Gouveia Pereira has worked extensively in Environmental Law, namely in the renewable energy, water and waste sectors. He has dealt with several matters concerning environmental liability, environmental funds and brownfields. Manuel Gouveia Pereira worked as legal adviser to the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, in the 18th Constitutional Government – between 2009 and 2011 – and as legal adviser to the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development, in the 17th Constitutional Government, between 2007 and 2009.

He is author of the “New Wastes Law – framework, challenges and opportunities” (Novo Regime Jurídico dos Resíduos – enquadramento, desafios e oportunidades”) published in the Indústria e Ambiente magazine, issue number 68, May/June edition of 2011 and he is also co-author of the collection of laws on the new environmental framework “Nova Legislação Ambiental (2005-2009)” published by the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development (1st edition published in 2009). He is currently preparing his Masters’ dissertation in environmental liability, in the area of Administrative Law.
