João Vieira de Almeida in ETV's 'Direito a Falar' debate

Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA)'s, managing partner, João Vieira de Almeida attended the debate promoted by ETV's 'Direito a Falar' dedicated to analyzing the impact on law firms of the recent measures announced by the Portuguese Prime-Minister as regards the State Budget for 2012. The debate took place on the 14th October and was also attended by partners from other Portuguese law firms.

As regards the financial difficulties, VdA's managing partner was straightforward: evidently, if economic activity is dependent on financing and if business law is dependent on economic activity, things cannot be the same. "It would be hypocritical to state otherwise". It is therefore imperative to be "more demanding, more rigorous, more productive", he says, adding that "there might be serious changes in the Portuguese business structures as foreign capital enters the market".

However, we must "look ahead, keeping a long term vision into the future", as "where there are changes" there are also "opportunities" emphasized Vieira de Almeida.
