Sandra Serrano, CEO of VdA Academia and Head of Learning at VdA, has written an opinion article for RH Magazine reflecting on the challenges surrounding learning and skills development within organisations.

“Are we developing people or merely providing them with more information?”, Sandra Serrano asks, highlighting the distinction between accessing information and effectively turning it into knowledge and behaviour.

In a context shaped by continuous flows of information, the article explores the need to move beyond simply providing content and to consider whether information is genuinely processed, understood and integrated.

For Sandra Serrano, the effectiveness of training should ultimately be measured by the change it produces in people’s behaviour, rather than by participation numbers, training hours or satisfaction ratings alone.

These questions will also be at the heart of the VIII Corporate Academies Meeting, taking place on 12 November at VdA, under the theme “Learning Reset – Redefining Learning in an Accelerated and Complex World”.

The event will feature Neuza Pedro (IE-ULisboa), Paula Marques (NOVA SBE), Alexandra Teixeira (Brisa), Cátia Almeida (CTT) and Paulo Reis Silva (Saraiva+Associados), with a panel discussion moderated by Susana Miranda, VdA's Talent Director.
