João Afonso Fialho and Ângela Viana were part of the programme for the 8th annual conference of the World Association of Mining Lawyers (WAOML). João Afonso Fialho moderated the panel ‘Critical Minerals: Overcoming the Challenges of the Energy Transition’, and Ângela Viana took part as a member of the WAOML Advisory Council and master of ceremonies on the second day of the conference.

This annual conference brings together legal professionals, academics and policymakers from around the world to analyse the emerging challenges of mining and strengthen the global network of industry specialists.

Held in a different city every year, this year's edition took place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 2 to 4 June.
