Iakovina Kindylidi and Martim Farinha presented the paper 'Discounts for the Lovestruck and the Melancholic? The Limits of Emotion Recognition for Commercial Purposes under the AI Act and the European Regulatory Framework' at the conference “The Impact of AI on Fundamental Rights and the Rule of Law as European Values”, organised by the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre.
The conference brought together national and international experts to discuss the key legal, regulatory and ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on topics such as the European legal framework for AI, algorithmic discrimination and the protection of fundamental rights.
In their contribution, Iakovina Kindylidi and Martim Farinha analysed the legal limits of the use of emotion recognition technologies for commercial purposes, in light of the AI Act, exploring the risks that these practices may pose to the protection of fundamental rights.
