Matilde Líbano Monteiro

Matilde joined VdA in 2015. She is a Managing Associate of the Litigation & Arbitration practice area where she has been focusing on civil, corporate and commercial litigation, as well as domestic and international arbitration, including investment arbitration, bot h i n Portugal and in Portuguese speaking African countries, notably Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde and Sao Tome & Príncipe.

More specifically, Matilde’s recent work has focused on M&A and corporate / shareholder disputes, comprising both litigation and arbitration proceedings, as well as contract disputes in a wide range of industries, including banking, private equity, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, water sector, health care sector, amongst others.

In the arbitration field, she has dealt with numerous institutional and ad hoc arbitral proceedings in the past years, notably ICC, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules.

Matilde is a co-chair of the Under 40 Committee of the Portuguese Arbitration Association and she lectures in courses and speaks in seminars and conferences, in the fields of arbitration and civil procedure.

Before joining VdA, Matilde worked as advisor to the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transports and Communications, from March 2013 to March 2015, and as trainee and associate at Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados, between January 2009 and February 2013.
