The news in Jornal de Negócios

Jornal de Negócios newspaper announced that Deutsche Bank AG has converted its Portuguese and Hungarian subsidiaries, Deutsche Bank Portugal and Deutsche Bank Hungary, respectively, into branches of the German parent company, with the legal advice of Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA) and Allen & Overy Budapest, under the coordination of one of the most prestigious German law firms, Hengeler Mueller (with the leadership of its partner, Daniela Favoccia), which has advised the incorporating company, Deutsche Bank AG, with head office in Frankfurt, Germany.

Pedro Cassiano Santos, VdA partner which has led the conversion of the Portuguese subsidiary into the German parent company highlighted that "this deal is, yet again, a breakthrough in the mergers & acquisitions area of the firm, being especially significant for dealing with the banking and finance matters which are highly regulated sectors once Deutsche Bank simultaneously is a credit institution, a financial intermediary and an insurance mediator (and being therefore subject to the Bank of Portugal, the Portuguese Securities Market Commission and the Portuguese Insurance Institute supervision), all of which have had to approve the transaction and its main conditions within the deadlines established for that effect." Pedro Cassiano Santos has also stressed the involvement of various VdA departments in the completion of this transaction, notably those related with corporate and regulatory matters (Tiago Correia Moreira), employment (Tiago Piló), litigation (Ana Falcão Afonso) and registration (Alexandra Resina da Silva).
