Paulo Pinheiro talks to Jornal de Negócios

Paulo Pinheiro, partner at VdA's Public Law practice reviewed the legal market's activity during the first semester of 2013 for Jornal de Negócios report on the matter stating that "corporate restructuring, renegotiating contracts and litigation following long term contracts' alterations due to the crisis (as is the case regarding concessions, for example) have played an important role in the firm's activity during the first semester of the year". This activity mirrors the Portuguese economy's present reality: "national companies are adapting to the 'new normal' framework which entice a whole set of new challenges but also new adversities" says the lawyer. Nonetheless VdA has been advising some 'innovative investment projects' which are a proof that "thankfully, confidence in a better and more stable future is emerging in the Portuguese economy".

Activity in foreign markets, with a special focus on lusophone countries is also gaining an ever growing importance for national law firms, writes the newspaper.
