The European pharmaceutical package reshapes the life cycle of medicinal products, from marketing authorisation and regulatory protection to the market entry of generic medicines and the management of supply shortages.

Speaking to Jornal Económico, Francisca Paulouro, emphasises that this is 'the most ambitious and far-reaching reform of the European Union's pharmaceutical legislation in the last twenty years'.

As she points out, the reform 'affects virtually the entire life cycle of a medicine' and will have an impact on the Portuguese system.
