Magda Cocco and Iakovina Kindylidi signed the chapter on Portugal in Lexology's publication ‘In-Depth: Artificial Intelligence Law’. This publication offers a global overview of the legislation and practices applicable to artificial intelligence (AI) systems and applications in several countries.

The chapter dedicated to Portugal addresses key issues, including legislative norms, government policies, as well as AI risk management principles and standards. The authors explain that Portugal, as a member of the European Union, has adopted the world's first comprehensive regulation on AI, the AI Act. However, they point out there is still no designated national authority for AI, a crucial step that must be completed by 2 August 2025.

Magda Cocco and Iakovina Kindylidi underline Portugal's commitment to promoting AI policies and strategies in line with international standards, as published in the report ‘Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Values 2023’ by the Centre for AI and Digital Policy, in which Portugal reached Tier II, with a score of 10.00.
