VdA bolsters its partnership with the admission of Ana Marta Castro and Benedita Aires, lawyers at its Public Law and Banking & Finance practices, respectively.
Ana Marta Castro joined VdA in 2006 and, as a lawyer at its Public Law practice, has advised on numerous national and international transactions. Ana Marta regularly advises several sectors, particularly the financial, aviation, space and defence sectors, as well as the telecommunications, energy, health, transportation and infrastructure industries. Her practice has focused mainly on matters related to public contracts, public regulation and the application of resolution measures to entities from the banking and financial sector. In more recent years, she has actively worked on privatisation processes and the disposal of public assets, notably in the banking and financial sector.
Benedita Aires joined VdA in 2003, where she has made her career, which included a year’s secondment to Clifford Chance LLP’s Structured Finance team based in London (2007-2008). As a lawyer at VdA’s Banking & Finance practice, Benedita has principally worked on national and international transactions involving the issue and placement of debt and equity instruments, regulatory capital instruments, as well as other structured finance products and classic financings. She also regularly advises on credit securitisations, covered bonds issues, asset portfolio financings and other asset-backed transactions. Benedita has been closely involved in the public recapitalisation of Portuguese banks and in the approval by the European Commission of their respective restructuring processes. More specifically, she provided legal advice on the application of resolution measures to Portuguese banks, the establishment of a ‘transition’ bank and respective sale process, as well as the disposal of financial institutions.
