On 8 June, Inês Antas de Barros will take part as a speaker at the colloquium AI Act: key challenges for organisations’, organised by Banco de Portugal.

The VdA Partner will join the panel ‘DPIAs/FRIAs: when, how and who? That is the question’, which will focus on the relationship between the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) and the Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment (FRIA), two key instruments under the new European regulatory framework for artificial intelligence.

The event will explore the main challenges posed by the AI Act, particularly in relation to the protection of fundamental rights, the responsible governance of technology, and the practical implementation of new obligations by organisations.

Against a backdrop of increasing regulatory demands, the discussion will also address the interaction between the AI Act and the GDPR, as well as the role of national authorities in supervising and enforcing this framework, with an emphasis on the need for a coordinated, proportionate and effective approach.
