Marco Caldeira and Catarina Coimbra participated in the "International Conference on Water Policies, Institutions and Regulation: Meeting SDG 6", held on January 25th and 26th at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
The intervention focussed on "People First PPPs and their crucial role in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 6 - Clean water and sanitation for all", as part of the project developed at UNECE by a working group headed by Manuel Protásio.
The project culminated in the publication, in November 2023, of the "Standard on Public-Private Partnerships / Concession Legal Framework in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and its Accompanying Guide".
With this in mind, VdA's intervention at the conference covered topics such as the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in reducing infrastructure gaps in developing countries, as well as the Portuguese experience with PPPs in the water sector and unsolicited proposals.
