VdA and VdA Academia supported the Public International Law Moot Court 2025, organised by NOVA School of Law, with Guilherme Oliveira e Costa (Associate), Martim Farinha (Knowledge Lawyer) and Sara Pinto Ferreira (Consultant) serving on the competition’s jury.

The Moot Court was held on 2 and 3 December and centred on the West Solarie Case, a simulated court hearing between the Federal Republic of Solaria and the State of Noctaria. The case explored key issues of Public International Law, including the right of self-determination of peoples, the recognition of States, territorial disputes and international responsibility in the context of secession processes.

The competition brought together 32 teams from NOVA School of Law and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, involving a total of 128 participants, and featured a diverse panel of judges made up of academics and legal practitioners.
