The revision of the Framework Law on Foundations was the focus of the Information Morning organised by VdA in partnership with the Portuguese Centre for Foundations (CPF) on 18 September.
The session opened with a welcome address by Isabel Gião de Andrade (Head of Practice Partner of Social Economy & Human Rights at VdA) and José Nunes Liberato (President of the Portuguese Centre for Foundations), followed by a presentation of the contributions received during the review process, delivered by Maria Folque (Legal & Compliance Advisor, CPF).
The highlight of the programme was the round-table discussion “Main challenges of the current legal framework for foundations in Portugal – Perspectives”, with Margarida Couto (Executive Director of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation), Rui Gonçalves (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) and Tiago Albaroado (Unitate Foundation), moderated by Ricardo Garcia (Secretary-General of the CPF).
The debate underlined the need to update the legal framework for foundations in light of the sector’s current reality.
The event concluded with a visit to the contemporary art exhibition “True Colours”, promoted by the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation and curated by Verónica de Mello.
VdA reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the foundation sector in Portugal, fostering inter-institutional dialogue and advancing legal and practical solutions better aligned with the reality of foundations.
