On 5 August, the Draft Bill partially transposing Directive (EU) 2023/970 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 10 May 2023 (the "Pay Transparency Directive") into domestic law was published in the BTE – Boletim do Trabalho e Emprego (the official Labour and Employment Gazette).

In accordance with the right to participate in the preparation of labour legislation, workers' committees or their coordinating committees, trade unions and employers' associations have a period of 20 days to comment on the content of the Draft Bill.

The text addresses the generality of the obligations set out in the Pay Transparency Directive, amending, to that end, Law No 60/2018 of 21 August, which establishes measures to promote equal pay between men and women for equal work or work of equal value, Decree-Law No 78/2026 of 16 March, which restructures and approves the organic framework of CITE – the Commission for Equality in Labour and Employment, and the Labour Procedure Code.
