José Pedro Fazenda Martins joined VdA in 2011. Partner of the Banking & Finance practice, José Pedro regularly advises on the capital markets sector’s most complex cases.

His profound knowledge of the capital markets sector equips him with the capacity to tackle and comprehensively analyse the relevant matters, players and appropriate solutions.

Law Degree, University of Lisbon, Faculty of Law.

Master Degree in Civil Law, University of Lisbon, Faculty of Law.

Former Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Law, is usually invited to lecture on several Post-Graduated Courses in Securities and Company Law (University of Lisbon, Faculty of Law, Catholic University and Universidade Nova) and to be Speaker in Conferences dedicated to Company and Securities Law.

Before joining the firm, he was the Head of Markets and Corporate Finance Department at the Portuguese Securities Commission (CMVM) and member of the Steering Committee of the Euronext College of Regulators.

In this regulatory capacity he intervened in the most important capital market transactions and listings of financial instruments that occurred in the last 5 years, including takeover bids, rights issues, securitisations and two business combination involving international Exchanges.

Author of several scientific articles on securities law issues and member of drafting groups that elaborated draft pieces of securities legislation and regulation.

Member the Portuguese Bar Association.

He is founding member of the Securities Law Institute, University of Lisbon, Faculty of Law.
