VdA incorporates a team of 30 lawyers including 6 partners

Portuguese law firm Vieira de Almeida (VdA) has announced that a total of 30 lawyers, including 6 partners, have joined the firm, extending its reach to new geographies and business areas, in particular Oil&Gas.

The team has decades of experience in several countries of the lusophone and francophone Africa and in East Timor in various business sectors, particularly Oil&Gas, advising on major projects of the world’ key oil companies.

Rui Amendoeira, João Fialho, Rui Andrade, Paulo Costa, Raúl Cerveira, Samuel Almeida, partners, and Mathieu Le Roux, of counsel, are the leading members of the group which now joined VdA. “this integration is strongly aligned with VdA’s culture and values and consolidates our international strategy”, says João Vieira de Almeida, Managing Partner.

With over 290 staff, VdA has been at the top of the Portuguese legal market for almost four decades. It now leapfrogs into becoming the leading international firm in Portugal and the first in the Iberian Peninsula to offer a comprehensive Oil & Gas practice while keeping its deeply-rooted activity in the Portuguese market.

“This move will extend our network to new geographies and our services to new business sectors, boosting significantly our international footprint with a focus on the lusophone and francophone African countries”, states João Vieira de Almeida.

Rui Amendoeira, who will join VdA’s board, stresses the focus on internationalisation as essential to strengthening the firm’s position in the market: “We are very pleased to join VdA, whose clear strategy, values and culture we are very proud to share”, he says.
