The New Electronic Communications Law (Law no. 16/2022, of 16 August) transposes the European Electronic Communications Code (Directive (EU) 2018/1972 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 11 December 2018) into national law, substituting Law no. 5/2004, of 10 February, as the main pillar regulating electronic communications.

VdA has prepared an analysis of the New Electronic Communications Law, outlining its context, purpose, scope of application and duration, and presenting some of the main developments with respect to the general authorisation regime, the radio frequency spectrum regime, end users’ rights and the regulatory requirements regime.
