Magda Cocco and Iakovina Kindylidi are the authors of the Portugal chapter in Lexology In-Depth's "Artificial Intelligence Law" guide.

This publication describes the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) legislation and its practical applicability. Based on the legislative and regulatory framework, the risks and impacts of AI are analysed, as well as the implications that its use can have for legal practice.

The VdA lawyers begin by describing the regulatory landscape of Artificial Intelligence, emphasising that “Portugal is on the cusp of the first comprehensive law on AI in the world: the European Commission's proposal for a regulation laying down harmonised rules on AI – the Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA). Once finalised, the AIA will apply directly in Portugal and an implementing law will be adopted”.
