In a world marked by climate change and the transition to a circular economy, green and blue bonds emerge as a financing scheme whereby available funds are used in projects that promote environmental sustainability.
Green and blue bonds emerge, on the one hand, from their issuers' willingness to promote projects that generate positive environmental impacts and, on the other hand, from investors' growing demand to invest in projects with environmental benefits. As part of the European Green Deal, the regulatory and self-regulatory framework - from the EU Taxonomy Regulation to the Green Bond Principles - has been following this trend, thereby contributing to their affirmation and dissemination.
Thanks to our track record in monitoring green bond issues since the very first Portuguese offering in 2018, we have gained expertise and experience in innovative and complex transactions. We have also assisted the first green securitization operation, whose uniqueness was recognized and awarded the "Sustainable Finance Award" by the Euronext Lisbon Awards.
