Sofia Barros Cortez co-wrote the article ‘The power of building inclusive teams’ with Madalena Ferreira, from SHL Portugal.

In this article, published in Revista Human, the authors explain the importance of the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) pillars in today's institutions. Effective management of diversity, equality and inclusion promotes a fairer and more balanced working environment, while significantly improving companies' financial and organisational performance.

In this context, Sofia Barros Cortez and Madalena Ferreira state that ‘companies are responsible for an increasingly comprehensive set of legal obligations and a growing degree of demand.’ To meet these obligations, organisations must first and foremost ‘prevent and combat harassment and discrimination by adopting codes of conduct, protecting victims, whistleblowers and witnesses, and penalising offenders.’ In addition, they must ‘promote balanced gender representation, ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities (by complying with applicable quotas), and ensure equal pay and transparency by defining action plans and correcting unjustified inequalities.’
