With the increase of regulatory surveillance on environmental practices, VdA lawyers highlight the importance of legal teams in ensuring that companies' ESG statements are accurate and verifiable.

Greenwashing has become a growing concern, with risks of litigation, sanctions and reputational damage.

The European Union and other regulatory bodies have already imposed standardised reporting rules, ESG standards and stricter sanctioning frameworks. The VdA lawyers warn that companies must act proactively to avoid misleading practices, reinforcing legal compliance and transparency in their environmental communications.
