João Afonso Fialho, Partner, and Susana Almeida Brandão, Senior Counsel, represented VdA at the 2025 Congress of the Federation Portuguese-speaking Lawyers (FALP), which took place from 19 to 21 November in Macau.

Under the theme 'Law in Sino-Lusophone Relations', the congress provided an opportunity to discuss key issues for the future of professional and economic relations, the internationalisation of law firms, investment protection and talent retention.

João Afonso Fialho was a speaker on the panel 'Energy in the CPLP and partnerships with the People's Republic of China', where he addressed the challenges and opportunities of energy cooperation among Portuguese-speaking countries. The panel also included José Luís Moreira da Silva (SRS Legal), Lukeno Ribeiro Alkatiri (Timor-Leste) and Rufino Lopes (J&L Advogados, Guinea-Bissau), and was moderated by José Lupi (José Lupi & Associados).

Susana Almeida Brandão, also Secretary-General of FALP, participated in the panel 'Diversity, Inclusion and Attracting Talent in Sino-Lusophone Relations: Challenges and Opportunities', alongside Icília Berenguel (C&C Advogados e Notários, Macau) and Raquel Spencer Medina (Cape Verde), moderated by Isabel Fernandes (Grupo Visabeira), Chair of the FALP Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
