VdA is supporting the Portuguese edition of the EUDIS Defence Hackathon, a European Commission initiative bringing together over 15 start-ups with the aim of developing technological solutions in the fields of airspace defence, anti-drone technologies and maritime security.
'VdA’s participation in the EUDIS Hackathon reflects our conviction that we are undergoing a period of profound transformation in the defence sector at a global level and that it is necessary to reaffirm Europe’s role in this context.
Innovation plays an essential role in shaping this future and requires, from the very beginning, an integrated vision that combines technology, strategy and legal rigour.
Portugal has everything it needs to position itself as a leading European hub in this new era of defence, and it is a privilege to be able to participate in an initiative that could be a real game changer for our country’s position.' — Ana Marta Castro, Partner in the Public Law Practice Area
The event takes place between 26 and 28 March at the Beato Innovation District in Lisbon and is organised by Productized, a company specialising in driving innovation programmes in the field of defence tech.
Over the course of three days, teams will work on projects aligned with European security priorities, including the development of more efficient and affordable drone interceptors, advanced detection and early warning systems for air threats, as well as maritime security solutions tailored to the specific needs of national defence.
The initiative aims to accelerate the development of technological solutions that strengthen European defence capabilities, whilst promoting collaboration between industry, technological talent and institutions.
