Francisca Paulouro took part in the business breakfast “The MFN Effect: Europe, the US and the Future of Healthcare in Portugal”, held on 30 September.
Organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal (AmCham Portugal), the event brought together more than 60 representatives from across the healthcare sector to discuss the impact of the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) model on the sustainability of healthcare systems, access to innovation, and the competitiveness of both the Portuguese and European markets.
Francisca Paulouro joined the roundtable “Perspectives on MFN and Pharmaceutical Policy”, where she shared her experience and insights on emerging trends in pharmaceutical policy, with a particular focus on the impact of the MFN model and its implications for access to medicines, innovation, and the long-term sustainability of healthcare systems. Moderated by Filipa Costa, General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, the panel also featured Nathalie Cardinal von Widder, President of AstraZeneca Portugal, Hélder Mota Filipe, President of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society, and Filipe Ganhão, Partner at Deloitte.
The event also welcomed a number of distinguished keynote speakers, including Pedro Pita Barros, Full Professor at Nova SBE, and Lindsey Zuluaga, Political-Economic Counsellor at the United States Embassy in Portugal.
The business breakfast provided an opportunity to reflect on key issues currently shaping healthcare policy discussions in the United States, the European Union and Portugal, fostering a constructive dialogue between policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and academia.
