VdA and the Portuguese Foundation Centre are organising the event ‘Foundations and Compliance: Strategies and Solutions’, which will take place on December 10 from 9.15am to 11.45am at VdA's Lisbon office.
The current regulatory reality imposes a series of duties and obligations on economic agents, including foundations. The pursuit of any foundation's mission is nowadays strongly conditioned by legal and regulatory requirements, in addition to compliance with principles of good ethical conduct and governance. Knowing the applicable regulatory framework, adopting internal processes for implementing and monitoring compliance, involving the most relevant stakeholders and communicating internally and externally about the processes and results achieved are essential tools for good management. The impact generated by the pursuit of the Foundations' purposes will be greater the more rigorous the compliance with applicable legislation and the adoption of best governance practices.
The Portuguese Foundation Centre will present and make available to its member foundations a Self-Regulation and Compliance Guide, which aims to compile normative information, in an accessible and summarised form, in order to support the process of fulfilling and complying with the legal requirements and standards in force.
