On 28 March, the impacts of the new quota system introduced by Law no. 4/2019 will be discussed at a conference jointly organised by Vieira de Almeida and iGen – Business Forum for Equality.

The conference aims to address issues related to Inclusive Recruitment, in the context of this new regime, such as the functioning of the quota system, available support and incentives for hiring and technical support in adapting workstations.

The session moderated by Rui Andrade, head partner of VdA’s Labour practice, will include the following participants: Margarida Couto, CEO of the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation, Tiago Cochofel de Azevedo, managing associate of VdA’s Labour practice and Leonardo Conceição, senior staff member at the Employment Department of IEFP, I.P. This conference will also include the sharing of experiences by Maria Castro e Almeida, consultant at the Inclusive Community Forum Nova SBE, Filipa Pinto Coelho, co-founder of the VilacomVida Association, Jorge Filipe, HR director at Auchan Retail Portugal, Mariana Canto e Castro, HR director and director of the Legal Department of Randstad Portugal, and Cristina Sêrro, jurist at CITE - Commission for Equality in Work and Employment.

The coffee-break will be served by CafécomVida – a social entrepreneurship project developed by the VilaComVida Association. CafécomVida is a “coffee house/school” inspired by European success stories. By promoting proximity and exchange between the wider public and young people with developmental disorders or disabilities (including Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, among others), this initiative contributes to the personal and professional fulfillment of these young people (the so-called ‘Independent Generations’) and works to demystify prejudices based on difference, thus fostering social inclusion.

Two members of the Independent Generations will provide logistical support at this event.
