VdA Academy organizes the first edition of the Women on Boards Angola Program

After the tremendous success of the last two Portuguese editions, the executive program Women on Boards in 2018, took place in Angola, during the last week, in collaboration with the BAI Academy, the 1st edition of this program in African territory.

With a group of 30 students with different backgrounds, essential competences were developed for the preparation of 4 female members of company boards for management board and supervisory bodies functions.

This program, counted with the collaboration of 5 invited speakers, as Noelma de Viegas d’Abreu, president of the BAI Academy; João Vieira de Almeida, managing partner of VdA; Vanessa Pinto Rodrigues, juristic director of the Standard Bank Angola; Ana Major, managing counsel of Chevron; and Elizabete Dias dos Santos, president of the Diside group, that shared their challenges and experiences that they face as managers.

Partners and associates of VdA also participated as mentors, like João Afonso Fialho, Paulo Trindade Costa, Hugo Moredo dos Santos, Vanusa Gomes, José Miguel Oliveira, Carla Mascarenhas, Inês Antes de Barros, and, from the VdA Academy, Sandra Pedro Serrano, in a program focused in giving the necessary knowledge and skills notions, in fundamental areas, for a successful practice of these functions.

For Sandra Pedro Serrano “this experience was very gratifying, not just for the possibility of working with a group of experienced women, with different and inspiring professional careers, rich in challenges, and also knowledge of risks, ambition and results, such as the learning and sharing of experiences that boosted these women’s roles, more and more in management positions.”
