Forbes Lusophone Africa recently published an article on the work developed by the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation, in partnership with the Girl MOVE Academy, within the scope of investing in educational projects in Mozambique. The article, entitled "VVA Foundation: Investing in women's education and leadership in Mozambique," highlights the Foundation's efforts to promote education and human rights, classifying it as ‘an example of how corporate foundations can act to generate transformative social impact’.

Girl Move Academy, a Mozambican organisation whose main objective is the empowerment of young women, has been actively collaborating with the Foundation and VdA since 2016, hosting young Mozambican women every year at VdA's offices in Lisbon and Porto, offering internships and professional development.

Margarida Couto, the Foundation's executive director, highlights this collaborative relationship, saying, ‘We believe that education is a true social lift,’ emphasising its importance in breaking cycles of poverty and promoting gender equality.

The collaborative relationship between the two institutions has already enabled the creation of several successful projects, such as the Christmas Campaign, where VdA employees raised funds for scholarships, guaranteeing access to education for 178 Mozambican girls, or the carrying out of 15 life internships between 2016 and 2024.

Hiris Jamal and Shelsia Ricotso, the Girl Movers who completed their internship at VdA in September, highlight the profound impact this programme has on both their lives, describing the internship experience at VdA as "unblocking" and emphasising the "humanized culture at VdA."
