On November 23, VdA, represented by Manuel Gouveia Pereira (Managing Associate), was present at the moment of celebration with the 42 signatory companies at the Natural Capital Conference, promoted by BCSD Portugal, at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, in Lisbon. The conference promoted the interaction between the private sector and NGOs and other associations that are in the field developing actions for nature, through a moment of match making and sharing of practical cases.

VdA signed act4nature Portugal in 2020, in the first wave of adhesions, as it recognises the importance of promoting and restoring biodiversity and ecosystem services, one of the most important challenges the world is currently facing along with climate change.

This BCSD event has in mind the COP 15 on Biodiversity, which will take place in December in Montreal, and which has as its main objective the adoption of the Global Biodiversity Framework post-2020, in order to halt the global loss of biodiversity by 2030 and promote the recovery of natural ecosystems. According to the BCSD, following the failure to meet all the Aichi Biodiversity Targets established under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) for 2020, COP 15 will be crucial in contributing to the establishment of a global agreement for nature and thus the necessary and urgent transition to a more sustainable world. In this context, companies have a fundamental role, namely through the assessment of their dependencies and impacts on biodiversity and natural capital, the disclosure of results and also the establishment of targets, in order to become "nature positive" by 2030, that is, aiming at regenerative business models.
