Cláudia Coutinho da Costa has written an opinion article entitled ‘A Bússola para a Competitividade: a nova estrela polar da UE’ (The Competitiveness Compass: the EU's new polar star), published by Jornal de Negócios.

In this article, the VdA lawyer analyses the strategic plan presented by the European Commission on 29 January, called ‘Compass for Competitiveness’. This plan aims to revitalise the European Union's (EU) economic growth and competitiveness within five years, in a strategy to overcome the challenges highlighted in the reports by Mario Draghi and Enrico Letta.

Cláudia Coutinho da Costa explains the three main axes of the EU plan: ‘Bridging the innovation gap’, ‘Accelerating decarbonisation’, ‘Reducing excessive dependencies and strengthening security’. The VdA lawyer emphasises the urgency of effective and swift implementation to guarantee the maximum impact of the proposed measures.
