Filipe de Vasconcelos Fernandes is quoted in an ECO article on the legal changes that will be necessary due to the postponement of the end of the regulated gas and electricity market.
The article, entitled ‘’Postponing the end of the regulated market requires changing the law‘’, highlights the Ministry of the Environment's decision to extend the regulated market until the end of 2026. According to Filipe de Vasconcelos Fernandes, this extension will require a review of the applicable legislation to ensure compliance, as well as justification from the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE).
In the electricity sector, Decree-Law 15/2022 of 14 January establishes the end of the regulated market in 2025. In the gas sector, the equivalent date is set by decree. The extension of the regulated market is not just a matter of national law, as it is subject to European standards and guidelines.
