Magda Cocco, Paulo de Barros Baptista e Tiago Marreiros Moreira are new VdA partners with effect from today.
VdA has announced that, the firm will have 18 partners and 2 Of Counsel, in a total of 135 lawyers and more than 200 staff.

In carrying out its well-defined strategy of organic growth, in addition to the creation of highly specialized areas of work with excellent expansion possibilities, VdA continues to meet its development objectives for the coming years with the promotion of these three senior associates.

Magda Cocco

Telecommunications specialist, who has broadened her area of activities since arriving at the firm in 1994, Magda has been involved in all the most important transactions and projects that have occurred in this practice area, continuing to advise the largest Portuguese telecom player in its business activities. Running parallel to this, she has been responsible for developing a new practice area, where VdA is already building a strong reputation, focused on the provision of legal advice in matters pertaining to privacy and data protection to national and international entities in a variety of business sectors. She has also been intensively involved in the media sector, where she has developed a number of innovative projects.

Paulo de Barros Baptista

With VdA since 1995, he has successfully practised in the areas of M&A and Project Finance, playing a fulcral role in a wide range of projects, both in Portugal and abroad, particularly in the areas of motorway concessions, mergers and acquisitions and private equity, having already carried out the role of VdA’s senior legal adviser to domestic and international clients in a number of a ward-winning international transactions

Tiago Marreiros Moreira

Having joined the firm in 2001, after a period as tax consultant at PriceWaterhouse Portugal and senior tax consultant at Andersen Portugal, he has been senior associate in VdA’s tax division since2004, where he has worked on various projects, both in Portugal and abroad, particularly in relation to the financing, acquisition and restructuring of national concerns and multinationals, providing advice for domestic and international tax planning, dispute resolution with finance authorities, implementation of securitisation transactions and tax planning in real estate. He is also Vice-President of Tax Commission of the International Union of Lawyers.
