Sofia Ribeiro Branco published an opinion article entitled "Requiem for the Private Life of the Offended" in the newspaper Jornal Económico.

In this opinion piece, the VdA lawyer reflects on the issue of publicising criminal proceedings and how data relating to privacy should be treated in terms of access to proceedings.

Sofia Ribeiro Branco clarifies that although criminal proceedings are generally public in order to promote transparency and scrutiny of cases, there are exceptions where a restriction on publicity is necessary, including offences against privacy, such as breach of correspondence or illegitimate access to trade secrets protected by law.
