Book by Vera Lúcia Raposo now on stalls

'From the medical act to the legal problem' is the title of the new book by Vera Lúcia Raposo, consulting lawyer at VdA's Healthcare practice.

The book is part of Vieira de Almeida & Associados' book collection published by Almedina. "Medical liability has been removed from courts for decades. An idea of medical paternalism together with a profound lack of knowledge over the leges artis has pervaded leaving medical malpractice totally at bay from the legal world. At present this scenario is changing moving sometimes to the extreme opposite when a success guarantee is demanded from medical practitioners leaving out the intrinsic risk pertaining to medical science and also the basic principles of civil and criminal liability. Somewhere between all and nothing lies this brief comment on the national (and international) legal framework on medical liability under the current law" writes Vera Lúcia Raposo in the book's abstract, which is now on stalls.
