Pedro Cassiano Santos, Orlando Vogler Guiné, Soraia Ussene and Chen Chen authored the Portugal chapter of the Chambers Global Practice Guide: Banking Regulation 2026, published by Chambers and Partners.

In this chapter, VdA lawyers analyse the legal and regulatory framework applicable to the banking sector in Portugal, covering matters such as authorisation and changes of control, corporate governance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, depositor protection, prudential requirements, insolvency, recovery and the resolution of credit institutions.

The publication also addresses ESG requirements and digital operational resilience under DORA, as well as key regulatory developments affecting the sector, including CRR III and CRD VI, the new European anti-money laundering framework, and the forthcoming changes to payment services under PSD3 and the PSR.
