From 28 May, the contemporary art exhibition ‘Mental Muscle’, by artists João Louro and Dagoberto Rodríguez, will be on display at the VdA Lisbon office.

Organised by the Vasco Vieira de Almeida Foundation and curated by Verónica de Mello, the exhibition forms part of the official programme of ARCO’26, which, in its 9th edition, will once again transform Lisbon into the epicentre of contemporary art in Portugal.

'Mental Muscle' emerges as both a metaphor and a critical programme. In an era dominated by the cult of physical performance and the speed of digital information, the exhibition proposes reflection as a practice that demands training, endurance and discipline.

The exhibition unfolds through the VdA office, where mental activity is the primary tool of work, merging content and container into a single communicative organism. Visitors are invited to walk through corridors and workspaces until they reach the central gallery — the nerve centre of the building — where the works by Louro and Rodríguez engage in a dialogue with everyday life and the architectural void.

Information: This exhibition is on display at the VdA office until September 2026. Visits can be arranged by prior appointment via the following email: amca@vda.pt
