Joana Bernardo, Managing Associate of the Investigations & White Collar Practice Area, led a session on 'Life Insurance and Money Laundering' in the Course on Life Insurance and Capitalisation Operations – Technical and Legal Perspective.
Organised by the Portuguese Insurance Association (APS) and the Association for the Study of Consumer Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (IDC), the course deepens the legal and technical dimension of life insurance contracts and capitalisation operations, addressing the main practical challenges associated with their negotiation, performance and termination.
The programme also explores emerging topics of increasing relevance in the sector, such as the right to be forgotten, information duties and non-discrimination, and how they intersect with areas such as Family Law, Succession Law and Tax Law. In addition, it includes a practical component that helps participants interpret contractual clauses, identify risks and keep abreast of applicable legislative and regulatory developments.
