Between 23rd and 27th May, 2007 VdA played host to around 90 members of Club de Abogados, Lisbon having been selected as the location for this year’s annual meeting of the association, an informal gathering of 35 top Ibero-American and European law firms.

The meetings, which alternate between Europe and South America, have as their objective the promotion of inter-firm contacts, with the mutual goal of facilitating easier client access to member firms.

In this way, discussion can be entered into about internal organisation, as well as debate concerning current legal matters of obvious practical and international interest and, in addition to this, the presentation and exchange of information concerning national legislation in a variety of areas of intervention in each one of the member countries.

This year the following areas featured prominently. The Globalisation of the Legal market, The Protection of International Investment and Arbitration and Alternative Forms of Fixing Fees.
