Manuel Protásio, Group Executive Partner Infrastructure, Energy & Natural Resources, participated in the IBA Annual Conference 2025, held from 2 to 7 November in Toronto. He took part in the panel discussion ‘Climate change: water law responses to scarcity around the world’, which focused on the impact of climate change on water resource management.

During the session, the panel discussed the effects of water stress and the need for technological solutions that can introduce new water sources or improve the use of existing ones. The debate also considered how different legal frameworks can provide legal certainty for projects in this sector, balancing the rights of current users with environmental protection and the long-term sustainability of water resources.

Manuel Protásio’s intervention contributed to the analysis of legal solutions in a global context of increasing water scarcity, highlighting the importance of robust legal frameworks.
