Manuel Protásio and Catarina Coimbra sign the chapter on Portugal in the publication "In-Depth: Public-Private Partnerships", launched by Lexology. This publication aims to analyse the legal and regulatory regime governing Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in different jurisdictions around the world.

In the analysis of the national context, VdA's lawyers address the bidding and award procedures, contracts, finance and the main trends for the sector.

In an introductory note, Manuel Protásio and Catarina Coimbra clarify that: " The public-private partnership (PPP) model started to be widely used from the 1990s onwards, with the purpose of equipping the country with modern infrastructure and services. The sectors that have attracted more private investment in PPP have been the road and railway infrastructure sectors and the health sector."
