Tiago de Oliveira, intern in the Intellectual Property department, publishes a book on Fashion Law.

The term “Fashion Law”, as an area of law that namely deals with the legal protection of fashion creations, has gradually assumed greater position, given the recognition of the importance of Fashion as a social, cultural and economic phenomenon.

Likewise, the exponential growth of the Fashion Industry and the potentiation of typical phenomena such as counterfeiting and piracy have led designers to seek legal mechanisms to protect their creations.

The work, entitled “The Legal Protection of Fashion Creations - Between the Copyright and the Design or Model”, published by Almedina, aims to reflect on these legal institutes and their susceptibility to be applied to fashion creations.

As such, this work - first, due to its innovative character in Portugal - assumes great relevance in the field of intellectual property”.
