Assunção Cristas and Catarina Pinto CorreiaCo-Head Partners of Environment & Climate Change Practice, were quoted in an article published by ECO marking four years since the entry into force of the Climate Framework Law and analysing the impact that its lack of implementation continues to have on sustainable investment in Portugal.

In the article, the lawyers identify as a key priority the need to make the law better known and effectively understood across the various sectors of society, arguing that it is 'a piece of legislation that remains largely unknown'.

In this context, they stress the importance of disseminating the main elements of the Climate Framework Law among both the general public and the business community, highlighting in particular 'the right to climate balance and the associated procedural rights'.

They also draw attention to the need to move forward with complementary legislation that is essential for the effective implementation of the legal framework, expressly referring to the publication and transposition of relevant European legislation, 'namely the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)', as a key step to ensure coherence, predictability and effectiveness in the application of climate policy.
