VdA, the Concórdia Association and the Observatory of Local Authorities are organising the event “Specialised Arbitration: Public Works and PRR Projects”, which will take place on 5 June, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the António de Magalhães Cardoso Auditorium, at VdA's office in Lisbon, with online streaming.

The “Trade War” is causing a significant range of concerns and challenges in the management of both public and private construction projects. For this reason, the Concórdia Centre and the Observatory of Local Authorities are bringing together a panel of experts to address this issue.

The topic has gained added relevance following the publication of Law no. 43/2024 of 2 December, which amended the legislation that approved special public procurement measures. This law provides that, regardless of what is contractually stipulated, public works or public goods and services supply contracts financed or co-financed by European funds may be subject to arbitration in cases where disputes arise that, due to their significance, may jeopardise compliance with contractual deadlines or lead to the loss of funding.
