From 1 to 7 March, the Portuguese team (composed of students from the Lisbon University School of Law) took part in the Jessup Intercontinental Rounds, the first test of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

The team had a brilliant performance and brought home the competition cup, the 2nd Best Oralist prize and the Spirit of the Jessup Award. The team’s victory in the final was decided unanimously after it convinced the jury of its superiority in relation to the Malaysian team.

A big congratulations goes to the Portuguese team, which managed to win against strong teams from France, Sweden, Malaysia, Latvia and Bulgaria, among other countries. During the competition, the participating teams were evaluated by judges from diverse jurisdictions, such as South Africa, Brazil, France, USA, Portugal, South Korea, Iran, Hong Kong and Malaysia, among others.

The Portuguese team is supported by VdA Academia and by coaches Diogo Santana Lopes (Consultant) and Bernardo Kahn (Trainee). Having successfully concluded the first phase of the Jessup competition, the team will now begin the moots in the context of the Elimination Rounds, which will be held from 13 to 18 April 2021.
