Paulo Pinheiro, partner at VdA and head of the Healthcare practice will be delivering the opening speech at the event which will also count with interventions by Paula Mendes in representation of Almedina publisher and by Rodrigo Esteves de Oliveira, partner at VdA and president of VdAcademia.

"Medical liability has been removed from courts for decades. An idea of medical paternalism together with a profound lack of knowledge over the leges artis has pervaded leaving medical malpractice totally at bay from the legal world. At present this scenario is changing moving sometimes to the extreme opposite when a success guarantee is demanded from medical practitioners leaving out the intrinsic risk pertaining to medical science and also the basic principles of civil and criminal liability. Somewhere between all and nothing lies this brief comment on the national (and international) legal framework on medical liability under the current law" writes Vera Lúcia Raposo in the book's abstract, which is now on stalls.
