Casa da América Latina and Vieira de Almeida & Associados promoted a joint breakfast with the Latin-American ambassadors in Portugal to prepare a seminar that will take place on March 27th.

The event was attended by the ambassadors of Paraguay, Panama, Uruguay and Chile and the diplomatic representatives of the embassies from Columbia, Equator, Peru, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Mexico.
In his welcome message to the Latin-American ambassadors in Portugal, Vasco Vieira de Almeida, senior partner at Vieira de Almeida, enhanced the need to a reciprocal collaboration in the investment support between Portugal and the Latin-American countries, emphasising the importance of the lawyers' role in the support to enterprises internalization process which will be the theme of the seminar.

The diplomatic representatives, besides referring the investment opportunities and the available incentives for the enterprises that wish to invest in the region, also presented different legal mechanisms from each country and spoke about their similarities. During his intervention in Portugal, the ambassador of Panama, Frederico Richa-Humbert, referred to the importance of a strong law firm, "this is fundamental in the enterprise internalization process", and also highlighted the relevance of partnerships among Latin-American offices "to provide better services to the Portuguese enterprises they represent".

The AICEP administrator, Pedro Pessoa e Costa, showed AICEP's availability to help Portuguese enterprises in their internationalization process, "the Portuguese enterprises have the possibility to do much more in Latin America, meaning AICEP is always available to support them and the embassies in Portugal".

Fernando Resina da Silva, partner at Vieira de Almeida and responsible for the relationships within the association Club de Abogados, an association that gathers the most prestigious Iberian and American Latin law firms, did a brief presentation on the firm and its increasing role on the follow-up of enterprise internationalization processes through VdAtlas, an international legal assistance platform developed and managed in an integrated way by VdA, which aim is to ensure support to enterprises that act in different markets.

Finally, the ambassador of Paraguay, Luís António Fretes Carreras, referred to the need to open new Portuguese embassies, for instance in his own country, "since it helps in large extent the Portuguese entrepreneurs who wish to settle there".
